Maharashtra PWD minister Chhagan Bhujbal on Wednesday lashed out at the opposition for blaming him for the murder of additional district collector Yashwant Sonawane,who was burnt alive by suspected members of a local oil mafia. "How is a Guardian Minister responsible? We had complained to the police about the activities of the oil mafia. Steps were being taken and action had been taken against Popat Shinde,the accused. He was externed from Manmad and his oil tanker was also seized," said Bhujbal. The minister said the oil mafia was feeling demoralised in the district. State BJP president Sudhir Mungantiwar had criticised Bhujbal,who is the Guardian Minister of Nashik district,and blamed him for on Wedneday's incident at Manmad in Nashik district.
