End ceasefire violations,stop terror from Pak soil: PM to Nawaz Sharif

Talks came days after twin terror strikes near Jammu that left 10 people dead.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today did some plain speaking with his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif laying down the precondition of end to violations of ceasefire along the LoC for progress towards resumption of Indo-Pak dialogue on various issues.

There was no major outcome from the hour-long meeting between the two Prime Ministers although it was announced thatthe Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of the two countries have been tasked to come up with a clear plan to restore ceasefire and the way forward to ensure that it remains in force and in place.

No timeframe was set for this but the Indian side said they would like to address the problem as soon as possible.

Stability along the LoC and shutting down of the terror machinery on the Pakistan soil directed at India formed the core agenda for Singh in his first-ever meeting with the recently-elected Sharif.
