Cong hints at pre-poll alliance with RLD in UP Assembly poll

Congress party is having discussions with RLD on a pre-poll alliance before the Assembly elections.

The Congress party has hinted at a possible pre-poll alliance with Rashtriya Lok Dal ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections slated to be held in 2012.

“Discussions are going on with RLD on the matter and a pre-poll alliance before the Assembly elections would be politically beneficial to both the parties in the state,” Congress legislature party leader Pramod Tiwari told reporters here last night.

“We would finalise our party candidates one year ahead to the Assembly poll in 2012 so as to ensure a good election campaign,” Tiwari said.
