The unusual and aggressive attack by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the main Opposition party does not seem to have gone down well with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Following the attack by the Prime Minister,veteran party leader L K Advani went on to demand immediate Lok Sabha elections.
Manmohan Singh takes on BJP,blames it for loss in investors’ confidence
Senior BJP leaders,including Advani and Opposition leaders in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha,Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley,met President Pranab Mukherjee over the stance taken by the Prime Minister on the current economic situation.
According to Advani,the BJP told the President that “it would be best if the country is rid of the present government and elections held”.
Talking to mediapersons after the meeting with the President,Advani said,”The present situation of uncertainty is because of the government’s inability to tackle economic crisis.”
He further said that the party was saddened by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s statement in Rajya Sabha attacking Opposition,and President Pranab Mukherjee was informed about it.
