With the National Council over-overwhelmingly supporting the resolution to oust Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav from the National Executive, AAP MLA Devendra Sehrawat on Saturday opposed the move saying it was against the principle of “natural justice”.

Contrary to party leader Sanjay Singh’s denial that bouncers were present at the meeting and there was no assault
on Yadav supporters, Sehrawat said there was indeed an “unpleasent situation” in the meeting.

“I was one of the eight people who did not support the resolution. I thought this was against the natural justice. They had already been sacked from the Political Affairs Committe (PAC) and they should not have been punished twice for the same crime. “You are shooting the messenger by sacking them instead of solving the problems,” said the Bijwasan MLA who is also a National Council member. “There was indeed an unpleasent situation and one member was manhandled. I stopped them and told the people to behave themselves,” Sehrawat said. He added that the handling of the National Council meeting could have been better.

The Yadav and Bhushan camp has alleged that volunteers supporting them were manhandled. This was categorically denied by party leader Sanjay Singh.

AAP’s Timarpur MLA Pankaj Pushkar and Patiala MP Dharamvira Gandhi also opposed the resolution to oust Yadav and Bhushan.
