A day after Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha said that the Opposition TIPRA Motha is suffering from “problems of its own”, a delegation of the tribal party met home ministry officials at New Delhi on Thursday over pending demands, including Greater Tipraland, a proposed autonomous state for tribals of the state comprising areas under the Tripura tribal council and few other villages. In a social media post on Thursday evening, Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma said, “The meeting was held in a positive manner and the MHA officials heard out our demand patiently! We have articulated that our demand is very much within the constitution of india and for the survival and existence of the tiprasa community…” He also said in the post that TIPRA Motha has not “compromised on the future of the tiprasa people”. “I am glad the IPFT also has raised the common demand of Tipraland…If we remain united we will achieve something. Further Discussion will be held at a later date,” Pradyot further said. However, the royal scion-turned-politician, who stepped down from the post of TIPRA Motha chairperson earlier this month, did not specify the provisional outcome of the meeting. While Pradyot is no longer the Motha supremo, he had said earlier that he would continue to have the last word in case of any “unsettled disputes” that might arise in the party. The social media post came hours after a previous post which expressed his anguish at the reactions from the public towards Motha leaders. “5 Months of trolling, abuse, insults end today as we ‘officially’ meet the HM officials along with other organisations. I pray that the almighty give some enlightenment to those who made fun of me in the last few months.,” Pradyot said. He also said that those who called him “a liar” now stand “exposed” and that his “commitment for a constitutional solution holds true”. “I have suffered immensely but my love for our people remains and so does my commitment,” Pradyot said.
