At a time when the Manipur government has been reeling under growing dissent with four MLAs resigning from their government posts, BJP national spokesperson and Northeast in-charge Sambit Patra on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting of state legislators. All the BJP legislators, including Manipur CM N Biren Singh, and party president A Sharda Devi attended the meet held at the party office in Imphal. However, a source said that Wangjing Tentha MLA Paonam Brojen was absent and did not even provide a reason for his absence. However, the reason behind the meeting is still unknown, the source added. Sambit Patra arrived in Imphal on Wednesday following the resignation of the four MLAs in quick succession from government posts. Soon after his arrival, he attended a meeting of the party office bearers and morchas. He left Imphal on Thursday afternoon.
