Zardari in Dubai after heart attack

Former Pakistan PM Benazir Bhutto’s husband Asif Ali Zardari had a heart attack on Saturday and is being treated at a Dubai hospital.

A Pakistani People’s Party release in Islamabad said tests revealed that the main artery of his heart was completely blocked. Zardari will remain in the intensive care unit for another 48 hours, it said.

The release said a Karachi-based doctor who was familiar with Zardari’s spinal problem, had been air-dashed to Dubai to treat him. Bhutto has appealed to people to pray for his recovery, the release said.

Zardari was freed last November after eight years of imprisonment and was tipped to run the party in Bhutto’s absence.
