AHMEDABAD, JAN 2: After Deepa Mehta’s Fire, trouble looms large over Mahesh Bhatt’s latest film Zakhm as just two days after its release in the city, the film’s shows were cancelled following repeated threats from members of a particular community.

The film was released on December 25 simultaneously in four cinema halls of the city but from second day onwards the agents and cinema-hall owners were threatened with dire consequences if they continued screening the film.

The manager of Advance Cinema in Bhadra had to cancel the show on the second day itself when some youths damaged the hall and broke chairs and glass panes. The next day, the youths asked the cinema owner to cancel the show. They had their way: on Sunday the cinema played Doli Saja Ke Rakhna. The cinema hall manager Avinash J Shah requested the agent to inform the distributor about cancellation of the show. However, Shah denied to have lodged any complaint with the police. The film was distributed in the state by DevganEntertainment, Mumbai.

At the Drive-in cinema, the film was replaced after running for a week but nothing untoward was reported from there.

One of the owners said the 18 reel film was cleared by the Censor Board and objectionable scenes were also removed. But no cinema hall owner wanted trouble.
