The prosecution in the Best Bakery case yesterday told the special court here that prime witness Zaheera Sheikh’s mother Sehrunissa Sheikh also holds a bank account with Syndicate Bank at Bhayander.

Special public prosecutor Manjula Rao asked Zaheera about the bank account of her mother and pointed out that a large amount was deposited in it.

Zaheera, however denied any knowledge about the existence of such an account.

Earlier, Zaheera had accepted that she holds a joint account with her brother Nasibullah at Bhayander’s Syndicate Bank branch but had denied knowledge about the money that had been deposited in it.

Zaheera has also denied knowledge about existence of a separate account in the name of Nasibullah.

Later, Zaheera told court that she was being threatened with ex-communication by her community for appearing before the court for re-trial and stating ‘‘truth.’’

Zaheera turned hostile during re-trial on December 21.
