The first meeting of the Andhra Pradesh government today has decided to undertake an A-to-Z review of all major projects sanctioned by the previous Telugu Desam government with retrospective effect from January 1, 2003. All the major infrastructure and tourism projects which involved allotment of five and more acres of government land in the state would come for re-appraisal and the heads of department (HoDs) have been directed to review them and submit reports.

The purpose of the review is mainly to see whether there were any irregularities in MoUs signed by the previous government with private developers. All the allegations made by the Congress leaders till now would be referred to HoDs. CM Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, who briefed the media later, said that this is normal practice whenever a new government is elected.

Reddy, who presided over two-hour long deliberations of the Cabinet, indicated that his government would examine the ‘‘one crore sops’’ announced by the TDP regime. ‘‘We will take a relook at each and every programme and scheme to make it more effective,’’ he said.
