PUNE, MARCH 27: A 21-year-old student of Marathwada Mitra Mandal’s College of Commerce was killed and his friend injured in a grisly mishap on the University of Pune campus on Saturday evening.

Kulbeer Singh, a second year BCom student, had gone along with his friends to the newly developed garden on the university campus when a PMT bus dashed into their motorcycle.

Police said Kulbeer Singh, who was riding behind, was flung at the impact of the collision and suffered deep wounds. His friend, Pavan Kumar Chaube, was also injured.

The two youths, bleeding profusely, were shifted to a nearby private hospital by their friends. Kulbeer Singh was proclaimed dead on arrival at the hospital. Pavan Kumar is undergoing treatment there.

Bus driver Sanjay Gangaram Shingote (33) of Gurudeonagar in Akurdi was later arrested by the Chatuhshrungi police. He has been charged with negligent driving and causing the youth’s death.
