SONEPAT, Nov 17: With the arrest of a youth, the city police today claimed to have solved the murder of Sandeep, a 12th class student of local Hindu College, who was allegedly stabbed to death by some youths near Anand cinema house on the Old DC Road here on October 29 last.

Superintendent of Police K. Salvraj told media persons here that the arrested youth has been identified as Sunil of Rohat village. Another culprit, Ajay of the same village is stated to be absconding and evading arrest and a hunt is on to apprehend him.

He disclosed that a dispute over the purchase of cinema tickets for a movie is stated to be the main cause of the murder.

Referring to a case of another murder, the SP disclosed that the Gohana Police have arrested eight persons including two women in connection with the alleged murder of Ravi Ram, a farmer of Sirsadh village in this district, on Thursday last.

The arrested persons are: Sube Singh, Ram Sarup, Subhash, Karam Singh, Ram Dhari, Surinder and two women Sudesh and Promila.

Meanwhile, the CIA staff today claim to have busted an inter-district gang of thieves operating in Sonepat and Gurgaon districts for the last few months.

The SP said six members of the gang have been arrested so far and the police has worked out more than a dozen cases of thefts committed by them in these district. The police, he said, had so far recovered one colour TV set from the possession of the arrested persons.
