Youth falls from train in MP, dies

A youth was killed when he fell from a running train following a scuffle with Railway police personnel near Bandikpur station in the district today, police said.

The victim, Ranjit Ahirwar of Budhu Khejra village in Saagar district, was travelling by Damoh-Chirmiri shuttle train to Bandikpur along with his friend Ajay Ahirwar, when the scuffle with two policemen broke out over train tickets, police said adding, suddenly Ranjit fell from the train.

After the train stopped at the next station, Ajay rushed back to the spot and informed the police about the incident. However, Ranjit was dead when police reached the site.

A case has been registered, they said. Meanwhile, Railway police claimed the question of scuffle with its personnel did not arise as GRP or RPF personnel are not deployed on Damoh-Chirmiri train.
