MUMBAI, April 15: Young Sports defeated Khalsa Gymkhana 6-4 in a fast-paced first-round match of the Bandra Gymkhana Open Rink hockey tournament, being conducted on the Gymkhana's flood-lit courts, last night.Young Sports got their goals through Deepak Koteyan, Yogesh Bhallu, C S Patil, Abdul Shakeel, Amin Sheikh and Pravin D'Souza. For Khalsa Gymkhana, Saini Hardeep Singh (3) and Aditya Menon sounded the boards.In the second match of the day, Catholic Gymkhana got the better of last year's winners Rebel Sports Club, winning 5-4.Ryan Alphonso (2), Ashok Fernandes (2) and Valley Picardo scored for Catholic Gymkhana. Caylin Fernandes (2), George Esteeves and Ryan Vessaokar scored for Rebels.In the last match of the night, Bombay Republicans, leading 3-0 at the breather, outplayed Bandra Gymkhana 7-3. Aldrin Bird (3), Lyndon (3) and Eves Bent scored for Republicans.
