For over a month now, the Kolkata Police page of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) website has been hacked by ‘Socialreject.com’, an out-and-out pornographic site. The real shocking part, though, is that the page is being updated daily while the top brass of NCRB is blissfully unaware of the encroachment. The site, ironically, is hosted by the Bureau’s ‘‘communication branch’’. To proceed to the page, double-click on the ‘link’ section of the parent site. NCRB’s Deputy Director S.K. Jain said he was not aware of the porn-attack. “We’ll definitely look into it,” he said. There is a message posted on the net by Bureau director Ramavtar Yadav, which reads: ‘‘NCRB, under the Ministry of Home Affairs, is committed to use of Information Technology for modernisation of Indian Police. Please open the web page for more information on NCRB and its activities.’’ Open the page and you get links to sites like Babes4free and XXXpics.
