Jackson gets royal snub in Slovenia

LJUBLJANA (Slovenia): This may sound utter nonsense to pop star Michael Jackson’s fans in India. But it is true. A Michael Jackson concert in Slovenia was postponed because tickets just aren’t selling, organisers said yesterday. Promoter Toni Sabol said only about 20,000 tickets had been sold for the concert, which had been scheduled for the Slovenian capital, Ljubljana, on Friday. This must be huge letdown for the star of HIStory, Thriller and other albums

Carey had said yesterday, “All that Prince Charles has to be is the next heir to the throne, so the very fact he’s divorced is not an issue at all. Now it is true that remarriage would create a crisis for the Church. That is well known. But I want to say again, Prince Charles has said he has no intention of marrying.”

Quinn’s court

NEW YORK: It could be a family affair in court this month when Hollywood actor Anthony Quinn, his estranged wife, his paramour and maybe even his two youngest children all show up for a hearing. Neither the 81-year-old actor nor his 62-year-old wife, Iolanda, who are negotiating a divorce settlement, was present yesterday for a hearing in state supreme court.

Justice Sherry Klein-Heitner postponed proceedings and ordered both to appear on August 18, along with Kathy Benvin, 35, who is Quinn’s former secretary and the mother of his two youngest children, Antonia, 3, and Ryan, 1.

Quinn’s lawyer, Barry Slotnick, told the judge that if the mother and father both had to be in the courtroom at the same time, they might not have anyone to leave the children with.
