KUMBAKONAM, (TN) OCT 10: A Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation bus was set ablaze by suspected AIADMK workers in Amaravathi village near here late last night, police said today. The AIADMK Valangaiman block secretrary, A Gurumoorthy, and four other party workers were arrested in this connection, police said.

The miscreants asked the passengers numbering about 10 to get down before setting the bus, on its way from Manergudi, on fire. The bus was totally gutted before fire service personnel from Valangaiman arrived at the spot, police said.

Meanwhile, over a 100 AIADMK members including the party’s former MLAs Ramanathan, K Thangamuthu, Vijayabalan were arrested when they attempted to stage road blocks here last night. Yesterday, scores of AIADMK activists were taken into custody from across the state when they attempted to block roads, protesting the special court judgment convicting party supremo Jayalalitha in the TANSI land deal case.
