VISAKHAPATNAM, March 31: The first Women Nationals Boxing Championship will be held by the end of the next calender year by the Indian Amateur Boxing Federation (IABF).IABF president Ashok Mattoo told newsmen last night that a ten-year plan from 1999 to 2010 had been jotted not not only to promote boxing but also to develop it.
About 30 probables would be picked up from the just the concluded National and a training camp would be held at Patalia from April 10. In couple of months, a training cum-competation camp would held at Cuba, Mattoo said.The centre had agreed to reappoint Cuban coach IB Fernandez as he has shown results by getting medals at the Commanwealth and the Asian Games, he added.The federation had added three more members to its list with Sikkim, Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh taking the tally from 32 to 35 units.
The next senior nationals would be held in Simla and the junior nationals at Bangalore. While Imphal would host the sub junior nationals, the Federation Cup would be held atChennai.
