In striking resemblance to the mysterious twin murder in Noida, a 33-year-old woman was found dead in suspicious circumstances in her house in Chandigarh and the body of the domestic help, who the husband claimed was the prime suspect, was recovered nearly 50 kms away.
Anuradha, wife of property dealer Baljinder Singh, was found dead in a pool of blood in the house in Sector 38 by the husband after he returned from a discotheque on Saturday night, Chandigarh’s Senior Superintendent of Police S S Srivastava said. The couple have two children.
Baljinder, who operates his business from Mohali, had initially returned to the house at around 9:30 pm and after having dinner with his wife and children had left for the discotheque, the officer said quoting the husband.
At that time, their servant Nikku was also present in the house, he said.
After Singh returned, he found the main gate of his house open and after rushing inside found his wife lying in a pool of blood with injuries in her neck inflicted by some sharp-edged weapon, police said.
Singh told the police that a room had been ransacked and valuables, including some cash, were missing. He said he suspected the involvement of Nikku in the murder.
Asked as to why the children who were home did not a whiff about the incident, Srivastava said they were sleeping when their mother was killed.
“We received information in the afternoon today that the servant had been found murdered in Ropar. This changes the whole complexion of the case and we will have to investigate it from a new angle now,” he said.
The killing of a 15-year-old girl in Noida on the outskirts of the capital took a sensational turn on Saturday with the recovery of the body of the domestic help, the main suspect, from the terrace of the house.
