Woman ends life in jail

SOLAPUR, Dec 2: A woman prisoner, who had been sentenced to life imprisonment just two ago, committed suicide in the toilet of the prison, here in the early hours of Thursday. Surekha Parade, a 40-year-old resident of Babalgaon in Malshiras taluka of the district, was sentenced for life imprisonment on November 30 by the Pandharpur upper session court for killing her husband Subhash Parade with an axe on May 20, 1999.

For last two days, Surekha had given up food. On Thursday morning, she was found hanging from the toilet window at the B division jail. She had used her saree to commit the act, the police said.
