CALCUTTA, Sept 26: The Wills Knock-out Cup cricket tournament will be held as scheduled at Dhaka. This was decided in an International Cricket Council executive Committee tele-conference late last night.
The conference, which began after 9.00 p.m., continued for about 45 minutes. The ICC president Jagmohan Dalmiya, chief executive David Richards, Ehsan Mani, Dr Ali Bacher, Sir Clyde Walcott and Roger Hill held discussions with the Bangladesh board chief Saber Chaudhury before arriving at the decision.
The Bangladesh board assured the ICC members that the post-flood situation is being monitored closely and adequate measures are being taken by the country’s health department to prevent the out break of an epidemic.
Dalmiya said that the situation in Bangladesh is improving and by the time the tournament gets under way, things should be almost normal. He added that the ICC too was keeping a watch on the developments and would never compromise with the players health.
