Leader of Pakistan People’s Party Benazir Bhutto has told Leader of Opposition in Parliament L K Advani that she will go to Pakistan when general elections are held in the country, possibly by year-end.The former prime minister of Pakistan, who was in the Capital for the India Today conclave, spoke to Advani on March 24, the day she arrived. Bhutto, who has formed the Alliance for Democracy with Pakistan Muslim League’s Nawaz Sharif, had also signed the Charter for Democracy with him.The last time Bhutto had visited India, she had met the BJP leader at his house over lunch. However, a similar meeting was not possible this time, as she was scheduled to leave the country after delivering her keynote address at the conclave on the same day.Bhutto and Advani also exchanged notes about Mitchell Albom — a novelist Advani had introduced Bhutto to when he presented her with Albom’s best-selling Tuesdays with Morrie. The BJP leader, a bibliophile, advised Bhutto to read two other books by Albom that he had read in the interim: The Five People You Meet in Heaven and For One More Day.Last month, Advani had met another important Pakistani leader, Foreign Minister Khursheed Mehmood Kasuri. The meeting between them took place when the Pakistani minister was in the country, following the Samjhauta Express blasts.
