NASHIK, Aug 20: Four devotees were injured when a security guard of the Saibaba temple at Shirdi in Ahmednagar district, opened fire allegedly on a whim, without any provocation, on Tuesday evening.

The guard, Dwarkasingh Yadav has been suspended for misbehaviour. According to S S Shahane, a temple spokesman, Yadav was standing near the temple, when his colleague on duty, Chotelal Verma, handed his rifle to Yadav excusing himself to visit the toilet. Yadav opened fire randomly on the wall and collapsible iron gate of the temple. Splinters of the bullets hit Purushottam Dada Ghuge, Rajesh Dharmadhikari, Raju R Kharbudkar and Gajanan Dada, all pilgrims from Nagpur. Yadav and Verma have been arrested.
