As the audience, mainly consisting of mediapersons, was being entertained by a well-known local singer at a function organised by National Conference MLC Devinder Singh Rana on Wednesday evening, Abdullah took to the stage.

Later, talking briefly to media, he extended greetings to the people on Diwali and hoped that the festival would usher in an era of peace, prosperity and happiness in the state.

To a query from a reporter, who asked if he becomes chief minister whether he would host the function and sing ghazals next year too, he remarked, “Inshallah I would sing at the same place and the same day.”

Abdullah also expressed hope that peace and stability is restored in Pakistan.
