West Indies beat Sri Lanka by six wickets in the rain-affected third and final one-day international on Wednesday to secure a consolation win in a series they lost 2-1.

The hosts took the field after a second rain interruption needing 10 runs off 36 balls under the Duckworth-Lewis system and Ricardo Powell (16 not out) eased them to a winning total of 160 in 36.5 overs — well inside the revised allocation of 42 overs. West Indies deserved the victory after disciplined work by a new batch of bowlers restricted Sri Lanka to 191 all out in 50 overs.

Breif score: Sri Lanka 191 ( M.Atapattu 25; U.Chandana 33; M.Jayawardene 51; Collymore 3/28, Taylor 2/39) lost to West Indies: 160 (C Gayle 21; R.Sarwan 25; M.Samuels not out 45)
