Spinner Ashley Giles took another five-wicket haul to lead England to a 256-run victory in the second Test against West Indies at Edgbaston on Sunday. England won with a day to spare and retained the Wisden Trophy after taking a 2-0 lead in the four-match series.

Giles grabbed five for 57 to go with the four wickets in the first innings and nine in the first Test win at Lord’s as the tourists were dismissed for 222 chasing a record 479 to win.

Marcus Trescothick had earlier become the first batsman to score a century in both innings of an Edgbaston Test as England were all out for 248, having made 566 for nine declared in the first innings. Chris Gayle was the star bowler for the visitors taking 5 for 34, with Jermaine Lawson pitching in with four wickets.

Gayle played a lone hand in West Indies’ chase as well scoring 82, and as long as he was there, they had a chance of at least going into the final day.
