We’ll not rest till Baalu goes: BJP

The Opposition says that it will settle for nothing less than the Prime Minister’s reply on the T R Baalu issue.

Fireworks are likely to continue in Parliament on the T R Baalu issue next week with the Opposition expressing dissatisfaction over Petroleum Minister Murli Deora’s statement and saying that it would settle for nothing less than the Prime Minister’s reply on the matter.

BJP leader Sushma Swaraj said Deora has already spoken on the Baalu issue outside Parliament and a notice for breach of privilege has been moved on this.

“Why should we listen to Deora. We want the PM to give a statement on the issue once the House meets again next week,” Swaraj told reporters.

She added that the party would prepare its strategy on the issue before the House reconvenes next week.

AIADMK member V Maitreyan also said his party would seek the PM’s statement on the issue. “How can Deora reply? We will settle only for the PM’s statement. We will not rest till Baalu goes,” he said.

Maitreyan was last week asked to leave the House when he had raised the issue defying the chair.

Earlier, Rajya Sabha was adjourned as Opposition members led by BJP shouted “we want PM” slogans, seeking his statement on the Baalu issue in the House.

As Deora read out his statement on the issue, the PM left the House, which triggered slogan-shouting from Opposition members.
