Matthew Spacie's weekends are always dictated by his work schedule. "As an expatriate living in Mumbai, the hardest thing to live with is the fact that people here work on Saturdays," says Spacie, director - sales and marketing - Cox & Kings. But he does manage to take every other Saturday off and likes to go away from Mumbai at least once a month."Four or five of us just take off on our motorbikes either to Madh Island or even to far off places like Panchgini, Alibagh or Kashid which has a beautiful beach," he says. When he's in the city, he spends a lot of time playing rugby at the Bombay Gymkhana. "And my roommate Stewart and I have this fun place full of games. So, even when I am at home, I can play anything from darts to billiards," he says. While he also uses the spare time to catch up on his sleep, these days Spacie sets aside at least four hours every weekend to study for his MBA programme.Which means that he has to head back to England to take his exams."But Saturday nights meandestruction time and I am usually doing the rounds of bars around town. Sometimes it is nice to misbehave and let your hair down. It's my reward for behaving myself through the week," he says. And those who have spotted him at Geoffrey's will vouch for the fact that after midnight Spacie is a different person.
