The University of Virginias Darden School of Business has announced the official signing of a collaborative relationship with XLRI (Xavier Labour Relations Institute) School of Business and Human Resources of Jamshedpur. The relationship will promote joint faculty research,joint case writing,reciprocal exchange programs for graduate students,collaborative executive education programs,the invitation of scholars for participation in conferences and lectures,and licensing of publishing materials. Through the collaboration with XLRI,we will offer students and faculty access to the latest research and innovative thinking in India as well as the global marketplace, said Peter Rodriguez,Dardens associate dean for international affairs. Together with China,India is one of the undeniable economic powers of the 21st century, he said. We must learn from Indian businesses about how best to compete and innovate for the Indian economy and much of the rest of the world. The partnership with XLRI,which is ranked among the top business schools in India,builds on Dardens tradition of global engagement in research,study and practice. Approximately one-third of Dardens student body is made up of international students,representing dozens of countries and a multitude of cultures. In recent years,Darden has seen a tremendous surge in the number of Indian applicants and students. The number of Indian students at Darden has more than tripled in the past five years,making it by far the Schools largest international market. Dardens Indian graduates number approximately 200 and support a vibrant alumni chapter. The Darden School of Business has international partnerships with 15 leading business schools across the globe. In India,Darden is also an active partner of the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad.
