Disney to lay off 250 employees
Walt Disney Studio is expected to eliminate between 200 and 250 positions next week. The majority of the cuts will be in the areas of distribution,said The Hollywood Reporter. Apart from piracy,declining revenues from the home entertainment division has been cited as one of the causes. Organisational changes like combining the domestic and international distribution divisions and the growing reliance of Disney on DreamWorks,Marvel and Pixar to fill the movie pipeline are also factors.
