He taught the smug,tote-wielding ladies to dress sharp in space-age cloaks and jackets with peaked shoulders. Designer Prashant Verma, who has looked back at the Sixties,Seventies and the Eighties,is turning to the Gita for a blissfully serene collection to be showcased at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week that begins in the capital on October 23. The line is called The Bhagavad and it is a short presentation with about 14 looks. Its also the last of a trilogy, whose earlier instalments were Ego and Love Song, says the 25-year-old.

At his Delhi studio, prints of craggy mountain surfaces transform the look of chiffon, and waves in deep blue inform the drape of a gown. One of the most striking images is of Kurukshetra, the battlefield, rendered through photographs of sculptures, skulls and carcasses. It has the visual quality of Greek sculptures. I have referenced the images of emperors, monks and saints, says Verma.
