The newly appointed minister of state for planning V Narayanasamy has said the UPA government would not let NDA-ruled states rename Central schemes like NREGA,Mid Day Meal and Bharat Nirman for their political gains. The government has also resolved to strengthen its monitoring mechanism to check diversion of funds by state governments from centrally sponsored schemes. Narayanasamy said the government had taken note that states were not only changing the names of Centrally sponsored schemes, but also diverting funds from them. The monitoring mechanism will be strengthened to check fund diversion and the Planning Commission will play a major role in that, he said.
