In an unusual alimony suit,a woman from Chandlodiya area of Ahmedabad has demanded that a Family Court direct her alleged rapist to pay maintenance for her five-year-old son. Satya Chinnaswami has claimed the maintenance on the ground that Rajkumar Adidravid,acquitted of rape charge by the Gujarat High Court a few months ago,is the biological father of her son. Satya is a resident of Railway Quarters in Chandlodiya while Adidravid is an Electrical Helper in the Western Railways office in Vatva. As per Satyas application,she was lured into a relationship with Adidravid after he promised to marry her nearly nine years ago and bore his child in 2004-05. The defendant reneged on his promise and married another woman. She had filed a rape complaint against Adidravid in April 2005. The Sessions Court had awarded him seven years imprisonment in 2007,which was successfully challenged by the defendant in High Court. Satya has demanded Rs 15,000 monthly and Rs 9 lakh for the money she spent on him since his birth.
