Will get over 70 seats,says Sukhbir…

The Badal family home here is abuzz with activity. Both Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his son and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal are camping here a day before the verdict

The Badal family home here is abuzz with activity. Both Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his son and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal are camping here a day before the verdict.

“I was holidaying for a month in South Africa and am now back at work. The exit polls will be proved wrong once again,” said Sukhbir. “Our alliance will win more than 70 seats and BJP will win at least 14 seats. So we have reason to cheer and celebrate in advance,” he added. Meeting the waiting party workers outside,he asked: “path kar raho ho (are you saying your prayers).”

His father too claimed the alliance would do well. “Do I look worried to you by any chance? I am fully confident of a comeback and we don’t need any poll surveys for our support. We don’t even need any support from others because our alliance will have a comfortable majority,” said the CM.

But the villagers here are not so sure. Many think that it will be a close call. “We will be happy to have Badal sahib as our CM,but it will not be a cakewalk this time,” says one.

On the PPP,Sukhbir said: “Everyone will see the party’s fate tomorrow,” but added,“we can consider taking in anyone who abides by the party’s rules.”

“It is a matter of a few hours only. The exit poll results will be proven wrong and the people’s verdict will be final,” said Hargopal Bansal,a close friend of the Chief Minister.
