He stressed for more business partnerships between the two countries.

On the last day of his five-day tour of Turkey, which was spent in Istanbul,Vice-President Hamid Ansari visited the shrine of Eyup Sultan, popularly known as Abu Ayyub Al-Ansari and believed to be the ancestor of Ansaris.

Later,in the evening,Ansari attended a dinner hosted by the Confederation of Businessmen and Industrialists of Turkey (Tuskon).

He stressed for more business partnerships between the two countries. Highlighting that bilateral trade has more than doubled in the past five years, from US$1.5 billion in 2005 to US$4 billion in 2010,he said a hundred Indian companies had invested in Turkey’s IT sector, airport infrastructure, automobiles, steel, irrigation and personal care products. Turkey too,he said, with its expertise in infrastructure, had invested a lot in India’s infrastructure.

“I call upon you to harness the huge untapped potential to increase the volume and enhance the quality of our economic engagement,” Ansari told the gathering.
