At least 24 persons,including six Armymen,were injured and two vehicles set afire when violence broke out at an Army recruitment rally at Palma in J&Ks Rajouri district Wednesday. Army had invited youth from Rajouri,Poonch and Reasi districts for recruitment in Territorial Army. Between 10,000 to 15,000 turned up,far too many than the compound of the Romeo Force Headquarters at Palma could hold. As soon as the recruitment process began,some youth began shouting slogans against the alleged favouritism in recruitment. Armymen lathicharged the sloganeers,who responded by pelting stones.
