Verma,wife move release pleas

The ACMM had issued production warrants for the couple to be served through the jail superintendent to producer the couple in court on September 17.

Businessman Abhishek Verma and his wife Anca Maria Neascu have filed applications before a Delhi court seeking release from “illegal” judicial custody in a case registered by the Enforcement Directorate under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

The two filed separate applications in the court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Gautam Manan seeking release on the ground that “continuity of custody has been broken” by the ED as their judicial custody was “not extended” on Monday.

The remand of the couple in the money laundering case had expired on Monday and the court was unable to give an order for extension of the custody since the they are at present in the custody of the CBI in another case. The ACMM had issued production warrants for the couple to be served through the jail superintendent to producer the couple in court on September 17.
