Priyanka Vadra is going to campaign for the Congress during UP Assembly polls. The party has given her name to the election office as one of its star campaigners, along with Sonia Gandhi,Rahul Gandhi and Satish Sharma.
While Rahul is already campaigning in UP,neither Sonia nor Priyanka has so far addressed any public meeting. Sources said their campaign plan has not yet been finalised.
Congress Legislature Party leader Pramod Tiwari has conveyed the names of the four star campaigners to the Chief Electoral Office. Under the law, expenses on star campaigners are treated as party expenses, and not part of the candidates election expenses.
While Pramod Tiwari was not available for comment, state Congress president Rita Bahuguna Joshi said that she had no information about campaigning by Priyanka.
In another development,Sitapur district administration has issued a notice to the local unit of the Congress, seeking details of expenditure made on three public meetings of Rahul Gandhi which were held in the district on Monday. Nominations for nine Assembly constituencies in the district would be held between January 12 and 19. District officials said if the party provides the details of expenditure before these dates, the amount would be added to poll expenditure of the party.
