Mukul Dev in a Bengali film

Mukul Dev will be seen playing a villain in a Bengali film that has been tentatively titled Surjo. Directed by Ravi Kinnagi,the film is set to release in September. Shot in Kolkata,it is made under the banner of Shree Venkatesh Films. Following the completion of the shoot and dubbing,the makers are currently busy with the film’s promotion strategy.

Dhanush in Sargunam’s next

National Award winner and Kolaveri di fame actor Dhanush is all set to join hands with Sargunam,the director of the much acclaimed films like Kalavani’ and Vaagai Sooda Vaa.

Sargunam and Dhanush will come together to make Sottavazhakutty,whose shoot will commence soon. The film is about a young and smart guy and Sargunam stated that the role fits Dhanush perfectly well while the rest of the cast are yet to be decided. Sottavazhakutty will blend of comedy and romance.

Asif in M. Mohanan’s 916

Asif plays the lead role,along with Anoop Menon and Mukesh,in 916,the next Malayalam film by M. Mohanan. The director,who made an impressive debut with Katha Parayumbol (which was remade in Tamil as Kuselan and in Hindi as Billoo) and who then made Manikyakallu,is now on to his third film,916 – Purity Of Emotions.

In his earlier two films,M. Mohanan had concentrated on relations; while Katha Parayumbol was about friendship and Manikyakallu was about teacher-student relationship. Asif says that he is playing a totally different character this time,“I am in the role of a young guy,who goes about advising and correcting people. He is a good-hearted youth”. Monica is the heroine of the film that M. Mohanan himself has scripted. The film has music is by M. Jayachandran and cinematography by P. Sukumar.

Baburaj,Mythili in Blackberry

Malayalam hero Baburaj is on a high these days. After Salt n’ Pepper,he has been getting some interesting projects,that too in lead roles. One among these is Blackberry,that has his Salt n’ Pepper co-star Mythili,as his heroine.

Blackberry is directed by K. B. Madhu,who has earlier directed films like Chitrashalabham,Deepasthambham Mahascharyam,Vinayapoorvam Vidhyadharan,etc. With Blackberry,he is trying his hand at comedy. The full-length humour flick will have Second Show fame Sunny Wayne in the cast as well.
