TN varsity wall collapse: Cops arrest chancellor

Jeppiaar,a politician-turned-educationist,was arrested on charges of homicide not amounting to murder.

The chancellor of Sathyabama deemed university was arrested by Tamil Nadu police on Thursday in connection with the death of 10 migrant workers in a wall collapse at an under-construction building in the premises of his university three days ago.

already arrested the director of Jeppiaar Institute of Technology,N Marie Wilson,who is also the son-in-law of Jeppiaar,engineers,civil contractor and labour contractor.

Jeppiaar was undergoing treatment at a city hospital when the police arrested him. He was remanded in 15 days custody but was allowed to continue treatment.

The workers who died were working at the Jeppiaar Institute of Technology at Kunnan in Kancheepuram district and hailed from Orissa and Assam.
