Teenager set on fire after rape attempt

A 15-year-old girl was battling for life after she was set on fire by three youths who tried to rape her at Kushaiguda on the city outskirts on Wednesday,the police said.

The girl,a resident of Padmarao Nagar here,was allegedly confined in a room in Kushaiguda locality by three youngsters,who made an attempt to sexually assault her,they said. The three men tied the girl with a rope,poured kerosene and set her ablaze when she resisted their attempts to rape her. The seriously injured girl was taken to a hospital with help from locals. The girl reportedly told the trio that she would kill herself rather than succumb to their advances,after which the youths allegedly poured kerosene on her,the police said.

The girl sustained 60 per cent burn injuries.
