Sugar prices rose by up to Rs 25 per quintal in the national capital today on increased buying on seasonal demand.
Traders said fresh buying by stockists and retailers to meet the festival and marriage season demand mainly led to a rise in wholesale sugar prices.
Some enquiries from ice-cream and softdrink makers also influenced the prices,they said.
Sugar ready medium and second grade prices rose by Rs 20 each to Rs 3,860-3,990 and Rs 3,845-3,970 per quintal,respectively.
Mill delivery medium and second grades also moved up by Rs 25 each to Rs 3,550-3,850 and Rs 3,525-3,825 per quintal,respectively.
In the millgate section,Mawana,Kinnoni and Dorala were up by Rs 20 each to Rs 3,770,Rs 3,845 and Rs 3,850 per quintal,respectively.
