Five Government Railway Police (GRP) officials were suspended on Monday for not acting against unauthorised passengers occupying seats reserved for over 90 Jharkhand girl students returning to Dhanbad from Patna by the Ganga-Damodar Express on Saturday night. The students,who had gone to Patna to participate in a two-day environment camp,and three teachers entered the train to find several youths had taken up their seats. Students did not get help from the GRP,nor was a case registered. Additional Director General (ADG) of Police,Railways,P N Rai said: There were complaints of misbehaviour by male passengers who did not vacate seats reserved for the girls through almost the entire duration of journey. No case is lodged. Patna GRP in-charge Rampukar Singh said sub-inspector Shyamsunder,head constable Ramprit Paswan and constables Dinesh Kumar,Kirtichand Kujur and Chandramohan Kumar Singh had been suspended for negligence of duty.
