Stars descend this evening in Mumbai to applaud their finest on Screen

The star-studded ceremony will showcase masala,dance,drama,action and emotion.

“Movies in India are driven by three things: entertainment,entertainment and entertainment,” actress Vidya Balan a.k.a Silk says in The Dirty Picture,sealing it with a wink. On Saturday,the 18th Annual Colors Screen Awards will honour Bollywood’s sweeping influence in India with all that symbolises “entertainment”.

The star-studded ceremony,at Mumbai’s MMRDA Grounds,will showcase masala,dance,drama,action and emotion.

The continuing Bollywood trend of gripping,small-budget films finding space with action thrillers and multi-starrers will be on showcase. So Aamir Khan Production’s Delhi Belly,a dark comedy,leads the race with 19 nominations. Shaitan,a small-budget thriller,is a close second with 14 nominations followed by the Zoya Akhtar-directed Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara with 12.

“The Screen Awards nominations are incredible. It is obvious that they have gone beyond box-office success and looked at the content,” said filmmaker Anurag Kashyap.

Katrina Kaif’s will be the opening performance,with a high-octane version of Sheila Ki Jawani. The evening promises a scintillating array of star hosts: starting with Shahid Kapoor,followed by Anoushka Sharma,Sajid Khan,Vidya Balan,Priyanka Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan.

In a segment presented by SRK,the work and times of Dev Anand and Shammi Kapoor will be celebrated. Helen will make one of her rare appearances to present a special award.

While Chopra will dance to a medley of chart-busters,Balan — expected to do a hat-trick by lifting the Best Actress award for the third time — will bring alive The Dirty Picture.
