A purchase budget of Rs 80 lakh can get you from a compact 1 BHK flat in most of the decent middle class localities of south Mumbai to 2 BHK flat in most of the developed suburbs western as well as central. Certain pockets of Khetwadi,Grant Road,Fort,Tardev,Girgaum,Prarthana Samaj etc may offer a compact or a converted 1 BHK flat in some old building in a lane at this price. says Sandhyaben,a local broker. It is impossible to get any thing in areas with better status. In fact the flat I refer would be a distress sell than the regular availability. One will have to compromise on status and infrastructure etc, adds Sandhyaben.
In central Mumbai, areas such as Mahalakshmi,Worli,Mahim, where one would get at the most a converted 1BHK flat while it is possible to fetch a compact 1 BHK flat in Mazgaon,Byculla,Dadar, etc, the other side of the central Mumbai. Going a bit northward,Dadar,Matunga,Sion etc would offer standard 1 BHK flat in some of the pockets as most of the other pockets have crossed Rs 1 crore mark. For still larger requirement,Shivadi,Wadala,Antop Hill etc can be considered in the neighbourhood.
Central suburban line would offer three levels as well. Ghatkopar,Powai and Mulund will get you 1 BHK flat at this price while suburbs such as Vikroli,Kanjur Marg etc would get you compact 2 BHK flat in some pockets. Kurla,Bhandup,Nahur,Mankhurd etc may get you 2 to 3 BHK flat at the same price by compromising on status and infrastructure.
