People ran out of their homes as a mild tremor hit the Sikkim capital Thursday night, four days after a 6.8 magnitude earthquake killed scores and caused widespread devastation in the state. The Indian Meteorological Department said the tremor measured 3.9 on the Richter scale hit the state at 10.15 pm. Its epicentre was in Sikkim. People poured out onto the streets as the tremor shook the city. At around midnight, much of the city was still on the roads,DGP Jasbir Singh said. As most of the houses in the city have developed cracks after the powerful earthquake on Sunday, the people are reluctant to enter their houses after the tremor and want to spend the night on the roads or in open areas, Singh added. Earlier in the evening,a 4.8 magnitude quake, epicentred in Myanmar, was felt in parts of Meghalaya,Manipur,Tripura and Mizoram at 7.48 PM,the Meteorological Department said.
