Siemens Q3 sales up 24 per cent to Rs 2,779 cr

Siemens Ltd today said its sales registered a growth of 24 per cent to Rs 2,779 crore for the third quarter ended June 30,2011.

Profit after tax (PAT) remained at Rs 155 crore compared to the third quarter ended June 30,2010,a company statement said here.

The new orders during the quarter rose by 8 per cent to touch Rs 2,282 crore,while the order backlog grew by 10 per cent to Rs 14,964 crore,the release added.

For the nine months ended June 30,2011,Siemens Ltd.,registered a sales of Rs 8,384 crore,a growth of 33 per centover the comparable period last year,while profit after tax grew by 16 per cent to Rs 667 crore. New orders during the nine months stood at Rs 9,615 crore.

All three sectors recorded notable sales growth figures,with industry growing by 8 per cent,energy by 49 per cent and healthcare by 41 per cent as compared to the nine months period last year. Commenting on the third quarter results Siemens Ltd.

Managing Director Armin Bruck said,”The Siemens Ltd growth story continues in spite of challenges due to rising raw material costs.

“Our bottom-of-the-pyramid product strategy is on track,and we are constantly enhancing our environmental portfolio,local manufacturing footprint as well as talent management programs.”

Major orders booked by Siemens Ltd during the quarter includes a contract from leading air cargo ground handling provider Delhi Cargo Service Centre to equip its Greenfield Air Cargo Terminal with state-of-the-art automation. The project is India’s largest cargo handling system contract ever awarded.
