Sharjah’s trade with China has surpassed USD 1000 million in 2008,an official of the emirate’s economic agency has said.
Sharjah-China trade reached USD 1083.92 million last year, going up from USD 633.52 million in 2007,Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) General Manager Ali Salim Al Mahmoud has said, adding trade between Sharjah and China depends mainly on imports.
China is currently the third largest trader with the emirate of Sharjah,he said, adding a Chinese government delegation recently visited SEDD to get an overview of Sharjah’s economic status and investment opportunities.
Al Mahmoud noted that small and medium-sized institutions’ ability to attract foreign investments is proof that economy is healthy and strong.
The growth rate reflects that investment climate of Sharjah is attracting more investments from China, and is in line with Sharjah’s policies to create a leading industrial sector,he said.
