The retraction by Swami Aseemanand of his confession may not hurt the Centres investigation in the 2007 Samjhauta blasts case. Sources say the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has in its possession records of a call in which Swami Dayanand Pandey asks Malegaon blasts accused Lt Col Shrikant Prasad Purohit to provide RDX to Ramji Kalsangre and Sandeep Dange before the Samjhauta blasts. A Home Ministry official said they are examining another conversation in which Pandey claims to have received a call from a Delhi-based right-wing activist after the train blasts, claiming Samjhauta was done by my boys. In the wake of these discoveries, the NIA is examining the statements of the accused of the 2008 Malegaon blasts. They have already questioned Purohit and Sadhvi Pragya Singh, said the official. While not giving any leads into the Samjhauta blasts,Purohit is said to have accepted that he was approached by Sandeep Dange after the attack,on October 3,2008,demanding explosives. Dange told Purohit that he will be reaching Pune from Indore and asked him to arrange for the explosives. On reaching Pune,Dange called up Purohit several times but he did not answer. Purohit claims that he refused to provide explosives to Dange, added the official. We have contacted the Delhi-based man mentioned by Pandey in his statement claiming responsibility for the Samjhauta blasts. It is possible that Purohit is trying to mislead us on the Samjhauta probe. There are several loose ends which need to be connected with forensic results as well. NIA teams have been fanned across various states for apprehending Kalsangre,Dange and Ashwini Chouhan, said an NIA official. Meanwhile, the NIA has received a nod from the Ministry of Home Affairs to take up the investigation into the Mecca Masjid and 2006 Malegaon blasts. Both the cases were being investigated by the CBI.
